Four Winds University (FWU) has officially announced the verbal commitment of Triston Kills Small, a standout guard from Little Wound High School, as the newest member of the Wolfpack. Triston’s commitment to FWU is a significant addition to the team as they prepare for the upcoming season and chase for a Tribal College National Championship.
Triston has made a name for himself at Little Wound High School with his impressive shooting and strong defensive play. Head Coach Shaun Little Horn expressed his excitement about Triston’s decision. “We are thrilled to have him join our Wolfpack family, Triston is hungry to not only grow as a player but to win a National Championship!”
The FWU’s basketball program is designed to allow Lakota athletes to participate in over 30 games each season, playing against a diverse range of high-level tribal and non-tribal colleges. This initiative is pivotal in providing Lakota players with the exposure necessary to advance their careers in basketball, an opportunity that has often been difficult to attain.
The vision for FWU’s athletic program is clear: to offer a platform where Indigenous athletes can excel and receive recognition in the broader sports arena. “Our goal is not only to compete but to shine a spotlight on the immense talent within the Lakota community, ensuring our athletes get the exposure and opportunities they deserve,” Coach Little Horn added.
As FWU prepares for its debut season, the addition of Triston Kills Small and other high-caliber recruits positions the Wolfpack to make a significant impact in college basketball and potentially the number one recruiting class in Tribal College basketball.
