Championship Guard Trayshon Spoonhunter Joins Wolfpack

Four Winds University is thrilled to announce the addition of Trayshon Spoonhunter to the Wolfpack basketball team. A standout from Oglala Lakota College and Lander High School, Trayshon has been a key player in some of the most pivotal moments during his high school and collegiate career.

At Lander High School, Trayshon helped secure a state championship, earning him All-State honors in Class 3A and the title of 2020 Fremont County Player of the Year. His success continued at Oglala Lakota College, where he was instrumental in leading the team to their first national championship in 41 years during the AIHEC tournament last season. His clutch performances in critical moments of the games showcased his ability to rise to the occasion when stakes were highest.

“Trayshon Spoonhunter has proven time and again that he is a player built for big moments,” said Coach Shaun Little Horn, Head Coach of the Four Winds University Wolfpack. “During last year’s AIHEC tournament, Trayshon displayed a level of poise and dominance that you rarely see. His ability to take over games in critical moments not only contributed to a historic championship but also showed his potential to be a transformative player for the Wolfpack. We’re excited to bring his championship experience and leadership to our team.”

Trayshon’s exceptional skills on both ends of the court, including scoring, facilitating, and defending, make him a tremendous asset to Four Winds University. His history of performance under pressure and leadership on and off the court will be invaluable as the Wolfpack aims for nothing short of a National Championship.

Nehemiah Baustian Commits to the Wolfpack

The Four Winds Wolfpack is thrilled to announce that Nehemiah Baustian, a standout junior basketball player from Rapid City, has signed with the FWU Wolfpack for the upcoming 2024-2025 basketball season. Nehemiah, a 6’4″ guard/forward, has been a dominant force in tribal college basketball and is known for his exceptional scoring ability and versatility on the court.

Nehemiah brings a well-rounded offensive skill set to the Wolfpack. “Signing Nehemiah is a huge win for our program,” said Shaun Little Horn, Head Coach of the Four Winds Wolfpack. “His unique combination of size, strength, and agility allows him to create space and score with both power and finesse. His footwork and ability to maneuver around defenders is simply outstanding.”

In addition to his scoring prowess, Nehemiah is also a formidable rebounder and has demonstrated exceptional playmaking abilities. His average of 18.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game during the AIHEC tournament, including a 26-point performance in the National Championship game, underscores his value as a player who can change the course of a game.

“Nehemiah’s comprehensive skill set and leadership growth make him a perfect fit for our team,” added Coach Little Horn. “He’s not just a scorer; his ability to rebound and find open teammates elevates the play of everyone around him. We are excited to see how his presence and championship DNA will enhance our team dynamics, as anything less than a National Championship is a disappointment.”

The Four Winds community eagerly anticipates Nehemiah’s debut in the upcoming season, confident that his addition will propel the team to new heights.

Former Pine Ridge Standout Charles Schrader Commits to Wolfpack

Last season, Schrader took on the role of assistant coach for the Pine Ridge Thorpes, gaining valuable experience off the court and deepening his already solid basketball IQ. His time as a coach has equipped him with unique insights and strategies that are expected to enhance his performance and leadership as he returns to play.

“Charles brings not only talent but also a deeper maturity and understanding of basketball thanks to his recent coaching experience with one of the best coaches in the state,” said Coach Shaun Little Horn, head coach of the Four Winds Wolfpack. “We are excited to see how his mental toughness and passion will contribute to the team’s dynamics and success.”
